MECHANICAL ENGINEER - KZN

Perform engineering analysis, testing, and calculations to support the development of mechanical products

Prepare technical drawings and renderings of product designs

Work with other engineers to ensure that designs meet requirements for safety and quality

Conduct research on new technologies and materials to support product development

Generate ideas for new products or improvements to existing ones

Develop prototypes of new products and components

Perform quality control checks of manufactured products

Troubleshoot mechanical problems

Prepare reports and presentations on findings

Materials handling design

Pipeline design

Tank design or evaluation.

Strength analysis / Finite Element Analysis

Thermal analysis

Rehabilitation of aging infrastructure

New infrastructure design

Working on multidisciplinary projects in a multidisciplinary team

Compilation of design reports

Compilation of investigation reports

Liaison with clients

Liaison with suppliers and external service providers

Interpreting client needs and making proposals to clients – verbally and written

Compilation of / assistance with tender submissions

CAD modelling and drafting as required

Generation of Bills of Quantities, Scopes of Works and Specifications

Project close-out

BSc or BEng Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum 7 years engineering experience in mechanical design such as failure mode and effect analysis, fatigue, asset life cycles, reliability engineering, TQM, materials handling equipment design, FEM, vessel & storage tank design & welding and discrete element analysis (DEM)

Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and concepts

PR Eng essential

CAD software proficient (AutoCAD & Inventor preferred)

Finite Element Analysis proficient (ANSYS preferred)
