Operations Manager (Steel Industry) - Penang

We are representing a leading manufacturer and supplier of various steel products based in Penang, Malaysia. They specialize in manufacturing sheet metal products, supplying scaffolding, and dealing in various steel products like pipes and plates, complementing their core business activities. Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement operational strategies to maximize efficiency and productivity within the production department.
• Manage data collection for updating metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service.
• Oversee production scheduling, capacity planning, and resource allocation to meet production targets and customer demands.
• Accountable for manpower headcount planning and ensuring equipment and machinery operate at optimal levels.
• Coordinate with various teams including manufacturing, maintenance, quality control, and logistics to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of products.
• Organize, manage, and execute short and long-term production and equipment preventive maintenance plans and strategies.
• Take immediate action to resolve any quality or delivery issues in the shortest possible time while interacting well with other departments.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations throughout the production process.
• Manage sound budgetary control to maintain the financial position of the Plant Operations Division and its subsidiaries.

Job Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in any relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Operations/Production, with 3 years in a managerial role.
• Experience in the Steel or Sheet Metal industry is an advantage.
• Good communication skills in English and Mandarin (due to business nature).
