This leadership role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in hospitality management, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for delivering an outstanding guest experience. The resort manager reports to the Resort Owner. Our Resort is a beach resort located at Pasir Panjang, Redang Island. It will be a newly opened, fully re-furbished resort in Redang Island opening in year 2025. As our resort is on an island, Resort Managers with experience working in island hotels and resorts is a plus. We are seeking an experienced Resort Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our stunning resort located on the beautiful Redang Island in Terengganu. The Resort Manager should be passionate, enthusiastic, and have a high sense of responsibility; as this position requires a lot of attention and dedication. This is a full-time position that will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running and exceptional guest experience at our resort. What you'll be doing
- Manage all aspects of resort operations, including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, and activities.
- Lead and motivate a team of resort staff to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of resort events, activities, and guest experiences.
- Handle guest inquiries and complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
- Monitor and manage resort budgets, financial performance, and inventory.
- Implement and enforce resort policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive innovation.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop and execute the resort's strategic vision.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the resort's goals and objectives.
- Provide visionary leadership to the management team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Manage the resort's budget, ensuring financial goals are met and expenses are controlled.
- Analyze financial reports and market trends to identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings.
- Review financial reports and statements to determine how the resort operation is performing against budget.
- Uphold and enhance the resort's reputation for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Oversee the implementation of high service standards across all departments.
- Direct and coordinate the day-to-day operations of all resort departments, including but not limited to front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, spa, and recreational facilities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Work with departments to determine areas of concern and establish ways to improve the department's financial performance.
- Recruit, train, and supervise department heads and staff.
- Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to develop and execute strategies for attracting and retaining guests.
- Explore partnerships and promotional activities to increase the resort's visibility.
- Oversee maintenance and upkeep of the resort's physical facilities, including buildings, grounds, landscaping, and recreational areas.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures to ensure all facilities are in optimal condition and comply with safety regulations.
- Maintain and enhance the resort's standards in all aspects, including cleanliness, service quality, and facilities.
- Implement quality assurance programs to consistently meet or exceed guest expectations.
- Build positive relationships with the local community, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Represent the resort in a professional manner at industry events and in the local community.
- Develop and implement crisis management plans to handle emergency situations effectively.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of guests and staff in all circumstances.
- Training in emergency response procedures and crisis management to effectively handle unexpected events.
- Ability to coordinate with emergency services and lead staff in implementing evacuation plans or other necessary actions.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior resort or hotel management role.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully managing resort operations and leading high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient in financial management and budget control.
- Familiarity with the hospitality industry in Malaysia, particularly in island resort destinations.
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Resort Manager or in a senior leadership role in a luxury resort environment.
- Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of the hospitality industry and current market trends.
- Ability to make strategic decisions and solve problems effectively.
