AtkinsRéalis is one of the world’s leading providers of environmental professional consulting and support services and has offices across the Republic of Ireland. We are seeking a Senior/Principal Water Resources Management Expert to provide consultancy advice to a range of clients on water projects and schemes, and to address general water resources use and management issues throughout Ireland. You will be joining a team, working with the Water and Environmental Management Consultancy (WEMC) lead for Ireland, and will liaise regularly with colleagues in the Water Management Consultancy (WMC) in the UK. You will be required to help identify and win water resources related work, such as planning, strategy and modelling work. You will work effectively as a key part of the WEMC team and with other professionals (environmental scientists, engineers, planners) in Ireland and the UK to provide a consistent and integrated service to our clients. You will be a Water Resources Expert, qualified to at least FETAC Level 7, preferably Level 9 or 10, and should have relevant work experience. You will preferably be Chartered or have achieved Fellow status through CIWEM or another relevant professional body. You will have comprehensive knowledge of Ireland’s water resource sector, including of relevant regulation and planning legislation. You will have technical experience in aspects of water resources modelling and operation planning, including delivery of key inputs for drought and water resource management plans. Uisce Éireann, Ireland’s only semi-state water company, produced a 25-year National Water Resources Plan in 2021 and is now working to implement this through delivery of four Regional Water Resources Plans. AtkinsRéalis has also just secured a place in delivery of the Water Supply Project to provide water from the west of Ireland to the more densely populated and drier central and eastern areas. You will support AtkinsRéalis in all our dealings with Uisce Éireann, and its parent body, the Department of Housing Local Government and Heritage. You will also work with the private sector in the delivery of sustainable water resources planning and management. Your wider experience may include calculating various components of supply-demand balances, demand forecasting, options appraisal, uncertainty and risk (e.g., headroom and outage), and investment modelling. Demonstrable experience of technical leadership in aspects of water resources management/planning projects is desirable. Experience of working for a private sector consultancy is a requirement, as is experience of undertaking business development, client engagement, proposal and tender writing and winning and delivering won work. Desirable Skills / Experience:
- Educated to at least Degree level (Level 8/9).
- Relevant work experience, at least some of which will be in a consultancy environment.
- Chartered Scientist, Environmentalist or Ecologist.
- Experience of undertaking business development and client engagement.
- Experience of proposal and tender writing and winning and delivering won work.
- Full Irish / EU driving licence.
- Must be an excellent communicator.
- Must be able to deal confidently with clients, staff reports and senior managers.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of personal integrity and commitment to upholding company values.
- Flexible approach with ability to multi-task and prioritise.
- Positive outlook and approachable manner.
- Highly motivated to achieve personal and organisational goals.
