Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking multiple qualified Journeyman Powerline Technician - Transmission & Distribution (full-time, permanent) to support upcoming projects. This position will be joining our growing team based out of Prince Albert, SK. The Journeyman Powerline Technician - Transmission & Distribution (full-time, permanent) will have a valid Journeyperson certificate and previous experience in the distribution and transmission industry as a powerline technician. The candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of distribution and transmission powerline construction, problem-solving skills, and organizational skills. - Understand daily activities, assess site hazards, ensure hazards are eliminated and/or controlled and communicated to all workers on site.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair power lines and cables that run between distribution electrical systems, towers and poles.
- Assemble, erect, and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles, towers and guy wires.
- Splice, solder and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution networks.
- Maintain and repair overhead and underground power lines and cables, and other associated equipment such as insulators, conductors, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers and lighting systems.
- Adhere to Forbes Bros Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Work from heights and in confined spaces.
- Climb different types of structures and possess the necessary tools to do so.
- Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned.
- Journeyperson Certificate/Red Seal Certificate is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience working in the trade is required, with knowledge of Distribution and Transmission system preferred.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License is required, Class 3 is an asset.
- Class A CDL with no restrictions.
- Able and willing to work in field/site with travel and work hour flexibility to accommodate remote/site work schedules.
- Able to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions and environments, inclusive of heavy lifting.
- Able and willing to present an acceptable five (5) year drivers abstract upon employment.
