Description The Reinforcing Ironworker (Steel Fixer) position involves preparing, assembling and installing steel reinforcement to reinforce concrete structures on a variety of residential, commercial, institutional, industrial and civil engineering projects. Reinforcers play an essential role in construction by guaranteeing the strength and durability of reinforced concrete structures. Responsibilities Install rods, wire mesh or any other similar material to reinforce the concrete. Cut, bend, bend, attach, weld, install and install reinforcing steel used in the construction of formwork, columns, beams, slabs or any other similar work. Analyze architectural plans and technical specifications to determine the dimensions and details of required reinforcement bars. Cut, bend, and assemble steel bars according to project specifications, using tools such as shears, benders, and welding machines. Transport reinforcement bars to the construction site and install them according to the directions of the foreman, ensuring required tolerances and alignments. Adhere to safety standards on the construction site by using appropriate personal protective equipment and following safety procedures. Conduct regular quality checks to ensure compliance of reinforcement bars with project specifications. Work closely with other members of the construction team, including masons, formworkers, and site supervisors, to ensure effective coordination of work. Requirements Studies in concrete reinforcement installation or other relevant training, an asset. Previous experience as a reinforcing ironworker or in a similar position in the construction industry. Knowledge of welding, cutting, and assembling techniques for steel bars. Ability to read and interpret plans and schematics. Good physical condition to perform physically demanding tasks on the construction site. Strict adherence to safety standards and work procedures.
