Who we need We are looking for an EMR Data Migrations Specialist to take ownership of the accurate and seamless migration of electronic medical record (EMR) data between systems during client onboarding. You will bring your in-depth understanding of the complexity and sensitivity of health information to plan and execute highly complex data migrations while maintaining data integrity. You will collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and healthcare providers to facilitate data transfers, troubleshoot migration issues, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This remote opportunity supports clients across Canada. What’s in it for you
- Integrity and efficiency. You will make a measurable contribution to the speed at which we can execute migrations while optimizing practices that prioritize data integrity. You will be part of a company motivated by how we can help our clients - and, on a larger scale - how we enhance part of the healthcare experience for patients and providers across Canada.
- Impact. You want to take on a results-driven role where you can see the impact of your work. You will have the opportunity to solve problems, eliminate errors, and increase the speed and efficiency with which we can work. You will play an essential part in ensuring we exceed the expectations of our clients.
- Cross-functional exposure. You want to grow your career in health tech. You want to understand the broader system and be supported in your professional growth as you gain exposure to our offerings and end-to-end processes. You will work with the Accounts, Onboarding, and Product teams and have the chance to expand your skills by joining one of them or moving up on this team.
- Data migration planning. You will collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand the scope and requirements of EMR data migrations. You will develop and implement comprehensive data migration plans that ensure the accurate transfer of data while minimizing disruption to healthcare operations. You will analyze existing data structures and prepare for migration to the OSCAR EMR system.
- Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL). You will extract data from legacy EMR systems, ensuring that all required data is captured. You will then transform and normalize the data to meet the format and standards of the target EMR system. Finally, you will load the transformed data into the new EMR system, ensuring accurate mapping of data fields.
- Quality assurance. You will conduct detailed reviews and audits of migrated data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards and client expectations. You will identify and resolve data integrity issues that may arise during migration. You will implement testing protocols to verify the success of migrations, including user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Client and internal communication. You will provide clear and timely updates to clients and internal stakeholders regarding the progress of data migrations and assist in addressing any client concerns or issues related to data migration.
- Problem resolution. You will identify and resolve any challenges during the data migration process. You will work with EMR system vendors and technical teams to resolve complex migration issues. You will provide post-migration support to clients and internal team members as needed.
- Documentation and reporting. You will maintain detailed documentation of migration processes, tools, and methodologies. You will create and deliver post-migration reports to clients and management, outlining the success of the migration and any areas for improvement.
- Compliance and security. You will ensure all data migrations comply with relevant regulations and standards, such as PHIPA, and implement data security protocols to protect patient information throughout the migration process.
- The experience. You have extensive experience with data migrations and a strong understanding of database management, mapping, and integrity. You are familiar with healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, and ICD-10, as well as data governance frameworks and regulatory compliance in the healthcare industry. Whether you have gained knowledge and experience in a clinic or hospital setting, you have an in-depth understanding of healthcare data’s highly sensitive and complex nature and a heightened awareness of preserving all information in a migration.
- The technical skills. You have experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) tools and methodologies. You are proficient in data migration tools, SQL and other database query languages. You can analyze and convert healthcare data in HL7, CDS, CSV and SQL formats for extraction, transformation and import. You have worked with EMR systems like OSCAR Pro, Juno, Telus, Accuro, or a similar platform.
- The interpersonal skills. You have professional communication and relationship-building skills. You are highly collaborative and can effectively work across teams. You are open to feedback and willing to share knowledge. You have a genuine appreciation for diverse experiences and approaches.
- The flexibility. You can travel to client sites on occasion. You understand the nature of data migration and are open to working outside of regular business hours or on weekends if needed.
- A virtual interview with a Talent Advisor to discuss your experience and interest in the role.
- A virtual interview with the Director of Client Accounts and the Team Lead. This will be an opportunity for you to ask further questions about the role, the day-to-day accountabilities and opportunities for career development and growth.
