Ensure that the inputs of the work are clear, actionable, and compelling (CAC) and that the outputs are valuable and deliverable. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Review existing production released designs to become the expert knowledge holder of functionality and performance using existing product documentation.
  2. Maintain broad technical knowledge of electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices, including but not limited to:
  3. DC section: DC circuits, AC to DC converters, AC power factor correction, high power transistors and rectifiers, LCC resonant circuit, magnetic design, DC current measurement.
  4. Pulsed DC and measurement sections: SMPS Switch Mode Power Supply topology, V/I sensors, inductor and transformer concepts, troubleshooting for series and parallel switch networks.
  5. Common requirements: digital and analog loop stability, VCO, worst-case component analysis, digital hardware, firmware, test and measurement systems, and electrical/safety regulatory compliance.
  6. Diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability, and manufacturing test yields of existing products using formal investigation methods and recommend/implement corrective actions.
  7. Follow key engineering procedures including the ECO process, Copy Exact, and Product Development Process.
  8. Identify product and process limitations and opportunities for product improvement.
  9. Accept inputs from engineering management to respond to changing priorities derived from Product Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Global Support, Supply Chain, Quality, Technical Service Organization, and Field Application Engineering.
  10. Identify and evaluate obsolete components in existing designs, select possible replacement alternatives, and redesign circuitry as required to meet performance criteria and functional transparency to the original design.
  11. Manage tasks with the method of Clear, Actionable, and Compelling (CAC), and bring visibility of the tasks to managers and requesters.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

  • Standard office environment using general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).
  • Noisy industrial engineering/manufacturing lab environment using spectrum analyzers, sampling and real-time oscilloscopes, pulse generators, voltage and current meters, power supplies, and special test fixtures.
  • Work with and around High Power, High Voltage, and High Current power sources, requiring safety training.
  • Ability to obtain a US visa; must be able to travel up to 15% of the time, which may involve international and domestic travel to remote sites, customers, and vendors.
  • Overtime may be necessary in times of increased demand.
SKILLS:
  • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Able to receive little instruction on day-to-day work, with general instructions on new assignments.
  • Ability to read and create schematic drawings using software applications (e.g., PCAD, Altium).
  • Skill in using enterprise resource planning tools – SAP.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Familiar with ISO system.
  • Strong knowledge of 6 sigma methodologies – SPC.
  • Component Life Cycle Analysis (e.g., using Part Miner, Parts Universe, Promiere, Puma, IHS).
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Electrical safety training (additional company safety courses may be required).
