Job Description

The Role: Elgin is accepting applications for our 2025 Graduate Programme. Our Graduate Programme provides an intensive 18 month learning journey with the ETOS team. The successful graduate would be expected to start in September 2025. 
  • Working with the ETOS Trading Team in core markets (GB and Ireland) and collaborating with traders to deliver market insight and develop tools to support decision-making. 
  • Supporting the research of fundamental and technical drivers related to supply/demand/transmission etc and their impact on core power markets in the short, medium and long-term. 
  • Contribute to the introduction of new pricing, risk modelling and similar systems into the ETOS platform through requirements building, details design, testing and implementation support 
  • Working with large datasets, supporting analysis and tool creation/improvement to aid in achieving profit targets and the optimal dispatch of assets. 
  • Participating in the daily trading operation (forecast creation, bid compilation and submission, position tracking and reporting) as required (under supervision of Senior Traders). Graduates will be expected to also participate on the trading rota, once successfully trained. The rota includes weekday, weekend and bank holiday shifts, with out of hours on weekdays included in rotation. 
  • Communicating with other Elgin business units as required and in support of ETOS wider role within the Elgin organization. 
  What you should expect to learn in this role:
  • Knowledge of the UK and Ireland Solar industry 
  • Gain detailed knowledge of the Irish and GB power markets, from market fundamentals to execution of trading strategies.
  • Gain valuable experience working in a team environment within the trading operation of the business.
  • Develop and improve on analytical and modelling skills. 
  • Gain an understanding of risk and risk management.
  • Gain exposure to the wider Elgin business, from Development  to Asset Management .

Your profile

What we need from you :
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental management, or related discipline. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, computer science, engineering or related technical field. 
  • Ability to prioritize workload in a time-pressured environment. 
  • A 'positive can-do attitude' 
  • Be curious about renewables and passionate about contributing towards a more sustainable future. 
  • In addition, any of the following would be a bonus: 
    1. Working knowledge of Excel/VBA and Python (Pandas, etc.) 
    2. Experience querying relational databases (e.g. SQL)
