Job Description: This position oversees and manages human resources of Training and Development, Central Education, and Nursing Professional Development Division. Holds 24/7 responsibilities, including supervision and performance management functions of department, as well as daily and ongoing personnel management. Assists in the overall strategic planning for the department in coordination with the Director. Essential Functions
- Collaborates with the Director of Professional Practice and Magnet Program to manage the daily operations of the Training and Development, Central Education, and Nursing Professional Development Division.
- Oversees all unit Nursing Professional Development Generalists, Specialists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and student placements.
- Develops and implements strategic action plans to support the goals and objectives of the organization.
- Ensures hospital policies, protocols, and practice standards are upheld in orientation classes, competencies, and educational offerings, and seeks evaluations and improvement opportunities for each.
- Incorporates Intermountain Health KPIs into competencies and educational offerings.
- Works with Clinical Educators, Nurse Professional Development Specialists/Generalists, and Clinical Nurse Specialists to develop processes to monitor clinical staff performance in compliance with established timeframes.
- Develops, revises, and implements clinical policies and procedures.
- Partners with Clinical Managers, Directors, and the Director of Professional Practice to assess and hold staff accountable to hospital and department competencies.

- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification endorsed by the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of three (3) years of Registered Nurse experience.
- At least three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
- At least two (2) years of leadership/management experience, including process improvement and change management experience.
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
- May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs when/if the leader takes clinical shifts.
