Munich Re Markets (“MRM”) within Munich Re is specialized in all types of strategic transactions for our life insurance companies' clients worldwide. Strategic transactions include capital management, financing, strategic risk transfer and, last but not least, the reinsurance of new savings and retirement products. MRM has developed and reinsured numerous individualized saving products across the globe and has infrastructure in place to reinsure, administer and risk manage savings and retirement products. MRM is expanding the APAC structuring team to meet increased demands reinsurance of Savings, Retirement and Investments Insurance Products across APAC. The New Business Solutions team within MRM is globally responsible for idea generation, development and marketing of new savings and retirement products and structuring of new transactions for Munich Re’s client base. You will focus on the design and delivery of structured/multi-asset new business solutions for insurance clients as well as optimization and management of solvency ratios. You will work with originators across APAC to further promote the insurance solutions offering targeting capital and financial market needs of Munich Re’s clients, and you would benefit from robust and personalized development opportunities. This position is based in Hong Kong and reports to the Executive Director, New Business Solutions, APAC. YOUR ROLE

  1. Collaborate on developing insurance solutions to mitigate financial market risk and/or reduce solvency capital requirements for life insurers.
  2. Facilitate the delivery of innovative investment-linked/indexed-linked insurance products for life insurance customers' savings and retirement needs.
  3. Compile feasibility studies and assist with pricing assessments for proposed solutions.
  4. Contribute to defining and constructing market risk hedges for envisioned solutions.
Origination support:
  1. Support production of client proposals and pitches.
  2. Engage in client negotiations before and during transaction execution.
  3. Support origination teams in screening potential opportunities for feasibility.
  4. Manage pricing updates and communication for existing transactions.
Solution Delivery:
  1. Collaborate with transaction captains on MRM opportunities in APAC (excluding Japan).
  2. Conduct quantitative and qualitative product risk analysis.
  3. Assist in compiling transaction documentation and coordinating with MRM Counsel.
  4. Facilitate internal approval processes and delivery.
YOUR PROFILE
  1. 5 years of experience in financial markets, life (re)insurance, investment banking, or actuarial consulting, with an actuarial background being a plus.
  2. In-depth knowledge of statutory and accounting regimes of insurers across APAC, with a focus on market risks within Risk-Based Capital.
  3. Familiarity with life insurance companies' needs, products, and risk mitigation techniques of market risks in the region.
  4. Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) is preferred.
  5. Entrepreneurial spirit, ambition for business growth, and ability to support product pitching to clients across Asia.
