Assistant Manager - Ecology
Job details
Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Wildlife Sciences/ Life Sciences/ Ecology/ Conservation Biology is essential.
Work experience
Minimum work experience of 8-10 years required in habitat ecology, habitat restoration, and species interactions at different trophic levels in human used natural habitats.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure quality and timely implementation of assigned project activities within stipulated time and budget.
- Ensure project activities are implemented in an ecologically sound manner
- Develop methodologies, data collection protocols and toolkits for wildlife habitat management and restoration in and around protected areas and wildlife corridors.
- Provide technical inputs in strengthening management plans of PAs, buffer areas and wildlife corridors
- Implement habitat management and restoration activities in the project area, monitor the interventions periodically and prepare report on the interventions and results.
- Pilot appropriate measures in human-wildlife conflict hotspots to reduce loss to local communities and retaliatory activities.
- Draft project reports, scientific papers, white papers etc. on the subject area.
Essential Qualities:
1.Candidate should have experience working on forest and grassland ecosystems, and with protected area authorities. 2.Experience in ecological study of long ranging mammals is desirable.
3.Knowledge of GIS and remote sensing data usage and analysis and working knowledge of local language is desirable. 4.Preference will be given to a candidate having working experience in Eastern Ghats/ Odisha.
