Job Description
Our client, a premier healthcare facility, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Mother/Baby Registered Nurse to provide direct, individualized postnatal care to mothers and newborns. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care, including patient education, monitoring post-delivery recovery, and supporting family members in the postpartum period.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care & Assessment: Provide personalized nursing care for mothers and newborns, conducting regular assessments, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a high standard of patient safety and comfort.
Care Coordination & Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare providers, including physicians, lactation consultants, and other team members, to create, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for both mother and infant.
Bonding, Emotional Support & Education: Support and monitor the bonding process between mother and newborn. Conduct emotional wellness checks for mothers, offering guidance on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postnatal recovery. Address concerns during the initial bonding period.
Breastfeeding Support & Assistance: Educate and assist mothers in breastfeeding, providing support and resources for successful lactation practices, and collaborating with lactation consultants as needed.
Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications safely, including pain management for mothers and necessary injections, such as vitamin K or vaccines for newborns, while maintaining accurate documentation.
Family Involvement & Discharge Planning: Involve and educate family members on newborn care and best practices to ensure a supportive environment. Prepare families for discharge, reviewing care instructions, scheduling follow-up appointments, and addressing any ongoing postnatal or newborn care questions.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
Licensure: Valid and current nursing license; eligible for Saudi nursing licensure.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in OBGYN Unit and currently working in OBGYN unit, a mother/baby or postpartum unit. Experience in patient education and infant care is highly desirable.
Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required.
Skills: Strong communication skills, patient education abilities, compassionate patient care approach, and proficiency in mother/baby nursing protocols.
Must be eligible to take the SCFHS exam.
Must be NRP Certified.
