Job Title : Head of Platforms Location: Nottingham/East Midlands, UK (Hybrid working available) Contract Type: Permanent About the Role We are looking for an exceptional Head of Platforms to lead and shape the technical direction of newly formed platform team. With a strong foundation as a TypeScript Developer and expertise in AWS , you will drive the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, reliable, and secure systems that support our growing business needs. This is a pivotal role for a visionary leader ready to guide a talented team to deliver cutting-edge solutions while fostering innovation and excellence. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead and mentor the platform engineering team, providing technical guidance and career development support.
- Define and execute the platform roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Architect, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure cloud-native platforms.
- Collaborate closely with development, product, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Drive best practices in TypeScript and AWS, ensuring code quality, testing, and deployment standards are met.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to improve performance and scalability.
- Own the reliability and performance of the platform, ensuring uptime and swift issue resolution.
- Monitor and optimize systems for cost efficiency without compromising on quality or security.
- Bachelor's or Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in a leadership role within platform or software engineering teams.
- Deep hands-on expertise with TypeScript and building scalable systems.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms ( AWS ), Infrastructure as a code ( Terraform ) and CI/CD tools.
- Proficiency in modern architecture patterns, microservices, containerisation and expert with Typescript, React and Node.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to stakeholders.
- A background in Agile development methodologies is a plus.
