IT Security Engineer In this role, you design and maintain the systems to keep VAT’s user IDs, computers, networks, clouds and data safe from cyberattacks to natural disasters. These security systems include elements like xDR, intrusion detection systems, vulnerability scanners, etc. YOUR CHALLENGES:
- Identifying security measures to improve incident response
- Responding to security incidents
- Coordinating IT security incident response across teams
- Performing security assessments and software audits
- Developing technical solutions to security vulnerabilities
- Researching new attack vectors and developing defense tactics
- Developing security standards and best practices
- Recommending security enhancements to management
- Ensuring new security systems are installed and configured correctly
- Testing security solutions
- Coaching and training internal incident response teams
- Developing programs to automate vulnerability detection
- Liaising with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution and support for vulnerability scans/audit
- 5+ years’ experience of working as an IT System Engineer or relevant position
- Proven experience with Microsoft Defender and Sentinel products including Azure and Entra ID
- Good experience in Microsoft Windows OS technology, networking, databases, firewalls, anti-virus, log management, content filtering, etc.
- Experience with network security and network technologies
- Good understanding of security protocols and authentication
- Good familiarity with the latest security principles, techniques and protocols
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work outside normal business hours
- Academic degree in IT or IT-related studies
