About this role: An exciting opportunity has become available for a professional, energetic and highly committed individual to lead Council's Integrated Planning & Consenting team. Responsibilities: This crucial role will ensure the effective delivery of strategies, policies and land development services. We are looking for a leader who is a superb communicator and team player, has an eye for detail, possesses excellent leadership and influencing skills, and a proven ability to plan, organise and achieve results quickly. You will need energy and enthusiasm and be committed to delivering customer service to the highest level. You will be self-managing as you tackle tasks, and will be able to demonstrate you understand people and can lead from the front. The position demands political sensitivity, discretion and the maturity to deal with demanding situations. As well as an ability to work to tight deadlines and maintain a good sense of humour, you will be able to think on your feet and be skilled at getting the best from those you lead. A sense of humour alongside a strong work ethic will go a long way too! Minimum Requirements:
  • A tertiary qualification in Planning or other related discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the delivery of planning, building, environmental, land development or regulatory consenting services
  • Demonstrated strategic and innovative thinking and planning abilities, balanced with pragmatism and an ability to respond to ambiguity.
  • Understanding of the conduct of consent related statutory processes and the Environment Court.
  • Proven positive strategic relationship development and management with iwi and key stakeholders.
  • Proven thought leadership at a strategic level – ability to proactively assist in the direction of the organization.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills and ability to work effectively as an influencer.
  • Proven inspirational leader and developer of high performing teams.
