Lead Platform Engineer

Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Platform Engineer to join our dynamic and fast-growing team in India. In this role, you will design, develop, and oversee the core platform architecture that powers our AltrumAI product. As the technical lead, you will ensure the scalability, performance, and reliability of our platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including machine learning engineers, software developers, and product managers, to deliver a world-class SaaS solution. Responsibilities:

• Design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance platform architecture that supports AI-driven applications and services.
• Lead the development and deployment of core platform components, including APIs, microservices, and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate cutting-edge machine learning models and ensure seamless deployment in production environments.
• Optimise the platform for high availability and low-latency performance , utilising cloud-native technologies and best practices.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation , ensuring reproducibility and scalability.
• Work with Infra & DevOps teams to implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment and minimise downtime during releases.
• Oversee platform security, implementing best practices for data protection , authentication , and authorisation .
• Design and manage containerised environments using tools like Docker and orchestration platforms like AWS ECS (Fargate), Kubernetes to support scalable deployments.
• Ensure seamless integration with cloud platforms, focusing on AWS (preferred) or equivalent cloud providers, including leveraging services such as EC2 , EKS , S3 , Lambda , and SageMaker .
• Drive best practices in DevOps and MLOps , including monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for platform health and model performance.
• Provide technical leadership to the engineering team, mentoring junior engineers and conducting code reviews to uphold high standards.
• Collaborate in an Agile development environment , working closely with stakeholders to prioritise features and deliverables.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in cloud infrastructure , distributed systems , and platform engineering to continually improve platform capabilities.

Required Qualifications / Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, with a strong focus on cloud-native architectures and distributed systems .
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in Python & Go programming languages.
• Hands-on experience with containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Strong expertise in cloud platforms , particularly AWS, including deep familiarity with services like EC2 , EKS , RDS , S3 , and CloudWatch .
• Proven experience in designing and managing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD tools and pipelines such as Jenkins , GitLab CI , or CircleCI .
• In-depth knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools, including Terraform or AWS CloudFormation .
• Expertise in distributed systems design , ensuring reliability and scalability under high loads.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, security best practices, and data management strategies.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus , Grafana , or Datadog to ensure platform health and performance.

Desirable Skills / Experience:

• Experience working with serverless architectures and frameworks such as AWS Lambda or Serverless Framework .
• Knowledge of database design and experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with message queues and streaming platforms like Kafka , RabbitMQ , or AWS SQS/SNS .
• Experience with MLOps practices , including managing machine learning model lifecycle in production environments.
• Understanding of observability principles , including distributed tracing and log aggregation.
• Familiarity with multi-cloud environments or hybrid cloud strategies.
• Experience leading platform migration projects or re-architecting legacy systems for scalability.
