Overview We are seeking a Scientific Programmer to join the Strategic Modeling Technology Department (SMT). The Strategic Modeling Technology Department is developing the next parallel reservoir and basin simulator for Saudi Aramco, which aims to handle gigantic hydrocarbon reservoirs with sufficient spatial resolution. As a Scientific Programmer, you will be responsible for assisting in developing, extending, enhancing, and maintaining reservoir simulator code. Key Responsibilities As a successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following:

  1. Develop, maintain, and enhance code for portions of the company’s in-house reservoir simulator.
  2. Initiate and conduct theoretical and practical research in the development of reservoir simulator codes individually or with a team utilizing the latest scientific programming.
  3. Develop and maintain code for Black Oil and/or Compositional reservoir simulators.
  4. Generate new ideas and projects, and contribute substantially to existing efforts.
  5. Mentor and train professionals.
  6. Train and provide technical support for reservoir engineers by using the simulator.
  7. Provide expert training and teach technical in-house courses and workshops/forums.
  8. Participate in international professional conferences.
  9. Ability to communicate and steer practical research in various international research & development organizations.
  10. Conduct applied research in the fields of high-performance computing, numerical methods of partial differential equations (PDEs), and hydrocarbon reservoir modeling.
Minimum Requirements As a successful candidate, you will hold a:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline. A MSc degree in Engineering or Science is a plus.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the oil & gas industry with special experience in parallel scientific programming. Experience with different industries such as Aerospace, Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, or Scientific Laboratories is also relevant.
  3. Strong knowledge in one of the following: C++, C, FORTRAN.
