Position Title: Part-Time Ophthalmologist Reports To: Medical Director Job Summary The Ophthalmologist at GluCare will provide specialized eye care, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye conditions and complications related to diabetes. This role requires a compassionate, skilled professional committed to delivering high-quality care and improving patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and detect signs of diabetic retinopathy and other diabetes-related eye conditions.
- Provide diagnosis and develop personalized treatment plans, including medical, surgical, and non-surgical interventions.
- Counsel patients on preventive eye care, the impact of diabetes on vision, and lifestyle modifications for better eye health.
- Perform necessary ophthalmologic procedures, including but not limited to laser therapy, injections, and minor surgeries.
- Prescribe medications, corrective lenses, or treatments as required, ensuring patient safety and efficacy.
- Coordinate and follow up with multidisciplinary teams for integrated patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in line with JCIA standards and organizational policies.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations, medical protocols, and GluCare's quality standards.
- Educate patients and families on managing diabetes-related eye issues and the importance of regular eye check-ups.
- Address patient inquiries and concerns, ensuring a supportive and patient-centered approach.
- Work closely with GluCare's healthcare team, including endocrinologists, dieticians, and diabetes educators, for comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in continuous learning, quality improvement initiatives, and research activities to stay updated on advancements in ophthalmology and diabetes care.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent with a specialization in Ophthalmology.
- Valid DHA license to practice as an Ophthalmologist.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience, preferably with a focus on diabetic eye care or in a related specialty.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills, with experience in diabetic retinopathy management preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
