As a result, all GTB business lines have evolved to provide optimum trade, liquidity, and payment solutions to clients.GTB is comprised of four business lines: Global Trade Finance ("GTF"), Corporate Cash Management ("CCM"), Financial Institutions ("FI"), and Export and Agency Finance ("EAF").Global Trade Finance:Provides tailored financing solutions to help companies facilitate cross-border transactions and manage their overall business more effectively and efficiently.Develops client centric solutions to remove or reduce payment risk or facilitate working capital by employing trade finance products (Standby Letters of Credit / Guarantees, Import Letters of Credit, Export Letters of Credit, or Documentary Collections) associated with client's domestic business needs or foreign sales and purchases.Supports strategic foreign banks and their clients' needs in North America & UK and acts as a trusted partner to mitigate risks in our markets.Clients principally include Fortune 500 and 100 companies with head offices located in North America and Europe.Works closely with internal TD internal partners to provide "One-TD" solutions to our clients.Job Description:This role is a junior to early-career entry point to a client coverage focused career in an origination unit of Corporate and Investment Banking. We are looking for more than just an Analyst. We are seeking a candidate with the capability to add value today, and with the potential for a long-term career within our team. In collaboration with three junior NY team members, the Analyst will support four Trade Finance Relationship Managers ("RMs") and will provide direct client management functions. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a deep intellectual curiosity, a passion for corporate finance and technology, and outstanding interpersonal skills / EQ.The Analyst role will require regular interaction with clients and internal partners, however, there is a large body of specific product information that can only be learned on the job. Productive client interactions require a solid understanding of our products and how we can put forth solutions to our clients. It is essential that the successful candidate be capable of finding ways to autonomously drive learning and take a degree of responsibility / ownership for development by proactively seeking out opportunities for learning and improvement.The Analyst is expected to grow into an independent problem solver. The ambition to develop leadership skills, both laterally and vertically, is essential.Our clients have global footprints but are mostly located in the U.S., Europe, Canada, and Singapore. Progression within the team will gradually require some travel to meet and build relationships with clients and team members.Primary Job Responsibilities:Trade Finance OriginationThe Analyst is an integral member of a client-focused origination team and will support four RMs to meet client requirements, identify new business opportunities, and assist in execution of trade finance strategy.Understand the overall TDS client origination strategy, particularly that of CIB.Support activity to enhance the client experience and/or increase revenue by adding new clients and increasing the penetration rate of trade finance products and servicesBecome familiar with TDS clients across industries such as: Automotives; Communications, Media, and Telecom; Consumer and Retail Products; Diversified Industrials; Financial Institutions; Healthcare; Paper, Packaging, and Building Materials; Technology.Review financial statements and leverage credit tools to understand clients' requirements.Develop relationships with key internal business partners: CIB, GTB, Debt Capital Markets ("DCM"), Public Finance Bond Desk, Leveraged Finance, Asset Securitization, CIB Credit, Trade Finance/Credit Lending Operations.Manage NY deal pipeline via Customer Relationship Management ("CRM") tools - DealTraxx and internal tracking.Work closely with GTF colleagues in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and Singapore.Relationship DevelopmentPrepare presentations and discussion materials / term sheets.Arrange/engage in client calls and preparation of call reports.Assist in term sheet negotiation.Collaborate with product partners including Trade Finance Operations ("TFO"), DCM, Derivatives, FX, Rates, ensuring appropriate presentation contribution.Support deal communication with CIB relationship managers.Assist in Closing New BusinessAs new business or a transaction is awarded, facilitate all aspects of facility approval from a product perspective, including Know Your Customer ("KYC") due diligence and onboarding.Assist RMs with review and negotiation of facility documentation with clients.Assist with instrument issuance.Assist in execution of trade finance strategy.Job Requirements:Familiarity with corporate financial statements (understanding of credit analysis is considered an asset).Strong analytical and quantitative skills.Strong Microsoft skills (PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote).Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.High level of self-motivation and initiative.Global financial market and political awareness.Excellent organization, collaboration, and prioritization skills to manage deliverables.Capability to manage continuous reporting and presentation requests.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt presentation style to audience.Ability to travel in North America.Other factors considered valuable:Familiarity with credit facility documentation.Understanding of corporate lending.Client facing experience.Understanding of trade products and governing rules, and/or the willingness to become familiar with rules & norms associated with trade finance.Who We Are:TD Securities offers a wide range of capital markets products and services to corporate, government, and institutional clients who choose us for our innovation, execution, and experience.
