Joining Wood for your Year in Industry placement you’ll be joining a culture of innovation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible to seek the best solutions for our clients. 

The role

Wood is deeply committed to the development of its people and recognises the importance of growing the next generation of Engineering Systems Engineer professionals supporting the future success of the organisation and the Energy and Materials sector. As an Engineering Systems Placement Student, you will have exposure to different parts of the business gaining vital skills within Engineering Systems and Information Management arenas including application management and the use of digital transformation technologies within the project. At the end of your Placement, you will be perfectly placed to join Woods sector's leading Graduate program completing your studies with industry experience that will help you accelerate your career at the cutting edge of Engineering Systems!

We are looking for high-achieving students with a desire to learn – the ideal candidates should be studying computer science degree (preferably with AI), enjoy problem-solving / troubleshooting, detailed analysis, be willing to embrace new ideas, and most importantly; take on assignments where the approach or solution isn’t known at the outset.

  • We will then be holding interviews in February / March

Responsibilities

As an Engineering Systems & Information Management Engineer, you will have exposure to different parts of the business gaining vital skills. In addition to conventional sectors, you can expect to become involved in:
  • Carbon Capture: Industrial clusters, concept development to detailed engineering.
  • Hydrogen: blue hydrogen (w/CCS), green hydrogen, ammonia/hydrogen economy innovation.
  • Future of hydrocarbons: adapting existing facilities and designing ambitious new projects, to produce the next generation of lower carbon fuels and chemicals
  • Digital Transformation and Digital Execution
  • Application Development and Optimisation

Qualifications

  • Currently studying the 2nd year of your degree in computer science or process engineering
  • The aptitude to work in multi-disciplinary team environments 
  • The right to work in the UK
