The Salary range for this position is $50.14 to $52.23 per hour.  Hourly rate is based on experience.

About the location

This role is based in our 34 -bed service in the lovely town of Blackall, Queensland. Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Australian Outback, Blackall is a hidden gem that beckons with its unique blend of rugged charm and warm community spirit. Located 960km North West of Brisbane, life in Blackall offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of modern living. The importance of this role

An opportunity exists for a permanent full-time Registered Nurse who is dedicated in providing the best care to our much-loved residents at our Barcoo Aged Care Service.

Barcoo Living MPS is a unique service providing both residential and home care services. It is a team dedicated to providing the community with quality service and support and advancing the reputation of Churches of Christ in the community by working within the mission and values of the organization.

Throughout your varied day, you will have the opportunity to assist residents with services that enrich their daily living. With your guidance of other care staff, along with your passion for the elderly, you will ensure that care plan requirements are thoroughly and lovingly undertaken for each resident.

As a Registered Nurse you will: 

  • Ability to develop and review care plans based on assessment findings of individual client needs;
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care strategies in consultation with client, their representatives and other members of the care team;
  • Maintain client documentation in accordance with electronic documentation and organizational and legislative requirements;
  • Liaise and collaborate with internal/external service providers;
  • Provide direct patient care, including providing medications and interventions. 
  • Liaises with a multidisciplinary team to develop, implement and monitor bespoke care plans. 
  • Educate families about health conditions and medications.
  • Provide guidance and support to our team of dedicated care workers. 

About you

You have a natural empathy for the elderly and are drawn to this line of work. With the ability to prioritise and manage workloads according to resident's needs, you are also able to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplined work team.

You understand the emotions an elderly person may struggle with as they face new realities, and can offer your support to help them through challenging times. You can effectively communicate at all levels enabling you to achieve best nursing practices in accordance with legislation, common law and quality improvement. Understanding the importance of providing quality care to our residents, you feel rewarded by creating a genuine impact.

Your experience and qualifications for the role should include:

  • Current registration as a registered nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner. Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Strong clinical knowledge and experience in aged care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • A National Police Check or ability to obtain.
