Senior Mechanical Engineer - Amico Mobility SolutionsRichmond Hill, ONFull Job DescriptionThe Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the product development team of engineers and designers to work on new product developments and product improvement initiatives.The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be recognized as the subject matter expert, typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be required to manage large projects or processes with limited oversight. Responsibilities include one or more of the following:Translate customer requirements into design documents and contributes to design decisionsDevelop and implement new processes and standardsDesign new parts or assemblies for use in new or current productsCreate 3D part files, manufacturing drawings and assembly drawingsImprove the design of existing parts to improve manufacturability, reliability or reduce cost where requiredConduct tolerance stack-up analysis of designsConduct a failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) of designs and processes as part of risk managementCreate and maintain technical/regulatory documentation (design master records & design history files) for new products and design changesDevelop verification & validation plans and conduct product verification/validation testingLead design reviews for new parts and products when requiredBuild and test prototypes to ensure all essential design requirements are metIdentify, analyze, and correct product, manufacturing, or process issuesInterface with customers, suppliers, and other teamsCoaches, reviews, and delegates the work of lower-level professionalsAssist in with any other duties as required by the Engineering ManagerCore CompetenciesAble to troubleshoot and handle difficult and often complex problemsManages large projects/processes with limited oversightHolds oneself accountable for team performanceAble to lead other engineers/developers in a design/development projectCoaches, reviews, and delegates work to lower-level professionalsSelf-motivated and have a hands-on approachStrong oral and written communication skillsAble to work independently within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team environment with limited oversight from managerAble to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines; results-focusSound decision making and judgment capabilitiesAble to adapt to changes quickly in a fast-paced work environmentEducation & Experience RequirementsUniversity Degree in Mechanical Engineering, P.Eng. status is required.7+ years of proven working experience in mechanical design, preferably in the area of medical device manufacturing or instrumentationProven experience in designing mechanical components or assemblies from concept to manufacturingProficient in 3D solid modeling CAD (preferably SolidWorks 2017 or above) and detailing.Good understanding of the design process an assetExposure to ISO quality systems (ISO 9001 or ISO 13485) and manufacturing environment an assetWorking knowledge of drafting standards and GD&T an assetWorking knowledge of plastic injection moulding an assetWorking knowledge of jig & fixture design an assetBasic understanding of electronics an assetFor more information, please visit us at www.amico.com*Only selected candidates will be contacted.
