Position: Mechanical Design Engineer Role: Based in Dublin, the Mechanical Design Engineer, as part of the Research and Development team is responsible for the design of new and existing products. Responsibilities: The role involves all aspects of product development and design from conception to production delivery. The design, development, modification, specification, and evaluation of mechanical parts or assemblies for new or existing products. The completion of engineering documentation to release new designs or design modifications to in-house production as well as external vendors. The development of 3D Model concept units in Solidworks. The production and release of ancillary product documentation, for example production checklists, cut-lists, instruction manuals, service manuals. Implement ongoing engineering change orders, ensuring engineering changes are processed and documented. To work within a Development team or to be a Team leader of a development project. To build prototype units, prepare proof-of-concept rigs and engage in other hands-on activities. To design and complete a regime of tests to ensure that the design is fit for release. To ensure designs meet specified quality criteria, and prepare necessary documentation to liaise with external bodies to enable third party certification (e.g. CE,CB, UL,NSF, KTC, WRAS). To maintain and communicate progress according to plans. The role is full-time, based in Sandyford. Some travel will also be required occasionally as part of this position. The Ideal candidate: Must have a minimum bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline. Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a Mechanical Design role. Must be highly proficient in 3D CAD modelling of parts and assemblies, ideally SolidWorks. Must have experience of design from product conception to production delivery. Will have experience of engineering documentation control and configuration/change management. Will have a passion for product design and innovation. Will have a desire to operate in an environment of continuous improvement. Ideally will have experience of design for injection moulding, sheet metal folding and forming. Experience in design of cold water, refrigeration equipment or HVAC is desirable.
