[What the role is] As Deputy Director, International Relations & Outreach, you will work in close partnership with other divisions within the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) and National Environment Agency, government agencies, and key partners to advance Singapore’s interests in international meteorology through strategic cooperation and profiling of MSS, as well as drive the publicity/marketing communications and event management efforts of MSS. [What you will be working on] The job scope will include but not be limited to the following:

  1. Formulate strategy to shape agenda at multilateral fora and influence outcomes, and improve MSS’ standing in the international meteorological community.
  2. Oversee MSS’ representation and participation at multilateral fora to ensure alignment with MSS’ strategic interests and track progress in terms of accomplishments and contributions to evaluate MSS’ representation.
  3. Develop plans to garner support from relevant bodies e.g. ASEAN Member States on initiatives that are of interest to MSS.
  4. Initiate and manage MSS’ public communications initiatives aimed at educating members of the public about the work of MSS.
  5. Supervise the coordination of local, regional, and international events e.g. school visits and regional/international events hosted by MSS.
  6. Support MSS divisions on the production of publications such as newsletters.
  7. Work with the divisions in MSS to generate multimedia content intended for online platforms e.g. LinkedIn.
  8. Ensure a coherent and consistent communications effort within MSS.
  9. Supervise a team of officers.
[What we are looking for] The job might be for you if you possess the following:
  1. At least 10 - 12 years of relevant work experience, with 5 years spent in a team leadership position.
  2. Sound understanding of foreign diplomacy, processes, and dynamics in bilateral and multilateral settings.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an eye for detail.
  4. Strong planning and organisational skills.
  5. Able to multi-task well and possesses a sense of urgency.
  6. Commitment to a high standard of service delivery.
  7. A good team player.
