This is a fully remote opportunity for one of our esteemed clients. About the role Andela is seeking a skilled and dynamic DevOps Engineer to support the migration and automation of its large-scale Linux-based infrastructure. This role involves working on a 3000+ VM environment with CentOS, managing on-premise to on-premise migration, and laying the groundwork for eventual cloud rehosting on AWS. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in automation, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code tools, combined with a strong understanding of networking and post-configuration requirements. Responsibilities:

  • Configure and manage a Linux-based infrastructure with 3000+ CentOS VMs.
  • Modify core services such as DNS, host renaming, and networking configurations.
  • Drive on-prem to on-prem migrations, ensuring minimal downtime and seamless transitions.
  • Collaborate on the eventual rehosting and rebuilding of the environment on AWS.
  • Utilize automation tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet) for configuration management.
  • Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, YAML, and JSON.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for post-configuration requirements.
  • Ensure networking configurations align with migration and rehosting strategies.
  • Optimize traditional configuration systems for efficiency and scalability.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience with Linux-based systems, particularly CentOS.
  • Expertise in configuration management tools: Ansible, Chef, Puppet .
  • Proficiency with infrastructure as code: Terraform, CloudFormation, YAML, JSON .
  • Strong understanding of DNS, host renaming, and networking configurations.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale on-prem migrations.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially AWS, is a plus.
  • Ability to automate complex processes and manage post-configuration requirements.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration and communication abilities.
Qualifications
  • Experience with AWS migration strategies, including rehosting and rebuilding.
  • Networking expertise in hybrid environments (on-prem and cloud).
  • Knowledge of best practices in automation and infrastructure management.
