Tax Manager Compensation: Pay: From $115,000 to $150,000 per year (based on experience) Position Type: Full-Time Exempt In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay Act, Compensation Differentials for this position are based on education, experience, training, and geographic location, as well as DWC's seniority and merit systems. Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure clients comply with tax authorities while minimizing tax burdens, adhering to firm policies and professional standards.
- Conduct top-level review of Tax returns, resolving tax issues with clients and involving specialists when needed.
- Communicate identified tax accrual review issues with clients and Audit.
- Plan and review tax processes and procedures, including budgeting and staffing.
- Monitor engagement process and actual time incurred vs. budget with the assistance of Senior staff.
- Ensure timely billing and manage out-of-scope activities, communicating with clients accordingly.
- Manage client relationships and expectations in alignment with project requirements.
- Provide timely advice and guidance to clients.
- Identify research needs and provide clear analysis.
- Apply firm and professional standards for tax advice and tax returns.
- Involve firm specialists as necessary.
- Assist in developing efficient methods to reduce clients' current and future taxes.
- Serve as a technical resource and ensure compliance with Firm policies.
- Frame projects and issues for effective delegation to senior staff and associates.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues in specific areas of taxation.
- Organize and conduct internal CPE training sessions in the area of specialization, involving Firm specialists.
- Introduce and develop innovative ideas to improve clients' financial positions.
- Review tax implications studies and offer alternative courses of action.
- Identify and leverage lessons learned on prior projects, offering input to improve processes and methods.
- Supervise Tax Staff and Senior Tax Staff on all projects.
- Review work prepared by Tax Staff and Senior Tax Staff and provide feedback.
- Train Tax Staff and Senior Tax Staff on all current software tools.
- Act as a Career Advisor, managing their workload and providing performance feedback.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, MBA or Masters of Accountancy preferred.
- Eight or more years of relevant tax experience.
- CPA or EA preferred.
- Knowledge of tax compliance and consulting principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a team.
