About the role The Equality Project Officer will lead RCSI's Athena Swan activity, including award submissions and action plan implementation. They will be responsible for assisting the Head of EDI to develop and deliver a university wide approach to equality in Higher Education, and work towards achieving a Silver Athena Swan Award for the university over the coming years. The Equality Project Officer will also manage a number of RCSI's wider equality ambitions and support the pipeline of Department and Faculties in developing and implementing Athena Swan action plans. The Equality Project Officer will be accountable for the following tasks, in coordination with the Head of EDI: Specifically, the duties of the post are: Lead development and project management of RCSI Athena Swan (Equality in Higher Education) Silver Award Lead the coordination of Departmental level Athena Swan Award submissions Maintain a strategic overview of progress and impact in the University, including monitoring and reporting on existing action plans Coordinate closely with interfacing departments to support requirements for EDI; including Human Resources, Quality Enhancement Office, Student, Academic & Regulatory Affairs, School of Postgraduate Studies, Office of Research and Innovation, etc. Co-ordinate and support the Athena Swan consultation process, including surveys, focus groups and 1-to- interviews at institutional and departmental level Coordinate the Athena Swan Working Group and Work Streams at institutional and departmental level Manage meetings, co-ordinate events and activities relating to the RCSI Race Equality Forum Have oversight of the development and implementation of RCSI's new Race Equality Action Plan Lead on the implementation of the RCSI Race Equality Action Plan 2025-2029 Advise on best practice and policies to support equality, diversity and inclusion in higher education Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget Support other meetings and activity for RCSI staff equality networks, specifically the Women's Network Represent RCSI on internal and external committees and working groups related to Athena Swan activity including the Athena Swan Practitioners Network and the Race Equality Working Group Stay up to date with sector-wide requirements and reporting across the equality grounds with a focus on Race Equality and Gender Contribute to EDI training and awareness raising initiatives including orientation, induction and guest lectures Deliver other related projects and ad hoc tasks as required Key Requirements: Qualification Third level qualification in relevant discipline for example Project Management or related field Knowledge & Experience (Essential) Experience in a similar role Interest in and/or understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Project management experience Outstanding project management skills Proficient in Data Analysis e.g. using Excel Ability to work with diverse and multifunctional teams Presentation/Facilitation skills Excellent management, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills Excellent time management & ability to prioritise tasks Meticulous attention to detail Ambitious self-starter with track record of completing projects on time and under budget Adaptable, creative and innovative Ability to work independently and as part of a small team Knowledge & Experience (Desirable) Knowledge of Higher Education Sector in Ireland Experience working on the Athena Swan Charter We are all too aware that imposter syndrome and the confidence gap can sometimes stop fantastic candidates putting themselves forward, so please do submit an application - we'd love to hear from you *.* Application Process Please apply online with your CV and Covering Letter.
