About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 11 The Role: Managing Editor, Asia-Pacific LNG The Location: Singapore The Team/The Business: The Asia-Pacific LNG team, with market reporters based in Singapore, Penang and Gurgaon, is responsible for producing price assessments, market-related news and analysis, and deep customer engagement for the Asia-Pacific Basin. The APAC Basin LNG trade is the largest segment of the global trade of this rapidly growing commodity market, accounting for about 60% of global consumption. The APAC LNG markets are highly dynamic, with constant changes in LNG flows, contracts, and market structure. The team is passionate about markets and market evolution. It is also nimble in engaging market participants and developing industry sources, and collaborative as an LNG team globally, as well as across S&P Global Commodity Insights. The Impact: We are looking for a dynamic and energetic individual to manage the team, as well as drive the development of LNG benchmarks in the Asia-Pacific and explain SPGCI’s role in the regional LNG markets. These benchmarks include JKM and WIM, and other key price assessments include SEAM, LNG bunkering, carbon accounted LNG, as well as downstream gas and spark spread assessments. LNG is one of the fastest-growing parts of the Market Reporting and Trading Solutions (MRTS) business and has a significant degree of industry and organization focus. What’s in it for you: Be at the heart of benchmark development Engage senior market stakeholders Increase expertise in the world’s fastest-growing hydrocarbon market Manage a dynamic and energetic team Responsibilities: Manage regional markets coverage: The Managing Editor leads the development of LNG benchmarks and expands market coverage in Asia-Pacific LNG markets spanning North Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. This senior role will lead the development of strategies around Asia-Pacific LNG market coverage to build and strengthen new and existing benchmarks that drive growth and create customer value. Additionally, the role holder will ensure thorough and innovative coverage of markets, including leading innovation and coverage of new market spaces, and will be responsible for engaging with customers, senior stakeholders across the markets, regulators, and senior members of the company. Regular responsibilities involve driving change and evolution of our assessment specifications and methodology, staying closely engaged with our key benchmark initiatives, leading critical projects, and ensuring all editorial standards are closely followed. In addition, the Managing Editor will spur improvements in coverage and help develop sources. Develop Staff and Talent on the team: The Managing Editor will coach and provide a sounding board for the APAC LNG team, encouraging high standards and enabling the team to operate to its capacity. The Managing Editor will foster a culture of execution, collaboration, and productivity by providing regular constructive insights to the team. Develop data and content leadership: The Managing Editor should aim to become a thought leader in the APAC LNG market, contributing to commentaries, leading writing initiatives within the team such as longer-form stories, blogs, and strategic output. The Managing Editor should help coach the team to ensure market-related news angles are well-covered and ensure collaboration with all aspects of the MRTS content team. Engage with the industry: The Managing Editor is responsible for leading market engagement with market sources (existing and prospective) around the North Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East regions. Act as a global ambassador for LNG. Engage with regulators, customers, industry, and media to educate the groups on the value Platts offers to the commodity markets. The Managing Editor should find and nurture new market sources; maintain a good relationship with existing sources as well as ensure all source contacts are handled according to editorial standards and best practices. What We’re Looking For: Basic Required Qualifications: Experience of relevant market reporting, analysis, or consultancy background in the APAC energy (LNG, oil, gas) industry Proven strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills and ability to influence at the highest levels within organizations. Able to work with globally distributed market participants, senior-level regulators, and internal (highly matrixed) teams. Clear, concise English writing skills. Any additional language skills are a plus Strong numeracy skills and the ability to apply basic math functions in Excel Ability to identify talent and nurture development within and across teams to ensure succession plans are actionable as needed. Excellent at identifying improvements and efficiencies and implementing processes that continually promote productivity and quality improvements.
