Job details
Role: Collaborate with the Chief Marine Officer and General Manager, Fleet to shape the vision and strategic goals for vessel fleet digitalization and technology integration, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry trends. Research, assess, and recommend cutting-edge technologies that enhance vessel performance, such as Io T sensors, predictive analytics, and remote monitoring systems. Lead the implementation process, overseeing the deployment from planning to execution. Partner with the Information Systems Department to support and maintain current systems (both onboard and ashore), including PMS, Crewing, Document Management, Procurement, Vessel Reporting, etc., ensuring reliability, performance, and alignment with business growth. Identify and implement system upgrades to enhance value. Create robust data collection and analytics frameworks to monitor vessel performance, fuel usage, maintenance needs, and environmental impact. Use data insights to optimize performance, fuel efficiency, and reduce emissions. Identify and implement automation solutions to streamline manual processes, enable remote monitoring, and enhance control of vessel systems. Integrate advanced automation technologies to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and increase safety. Ensure all technological implementations meet maritime regulations, industry standards, and safety protocols. Build and manage relationships with technology vendors, equipment suppliers, and service providers. Evaluate solutions, negotiate contracts, and manage these relationships to keep the company at the forefront of maritime technology. Provide mentorship and professional development for team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Marine Engineering. At least 15+ years in a senior role overseeing technology initiatives in the maritime sector, including ship management/owners or Fleet IT, with a proven track record of leadership. Extensive knowledge of maritime operations, vessel systems, and regulatory standards, with experience in vessel digitalization, automation, and remote monitoring technologies. Familiarity with Bassnet or similar fleet management systems is required. Strong proficiency in digital technologies relevant to fleet management, such as Io T sensors, data analytics, fleet management software, predictive maintenance, and cybersecurity. Proven project management experience, successfully leading complex technology projects from initiation to completion, within budget and time constraints. Expertise in data analysis tools to extract actionable insights from vessel sensor data, performance metrics, and operational records. Strong understanding of maritime regulations and compliance standards for digitalization initiatives, ensuring all technologies meet legal and regulatory requirements. Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of interacting professionally and effectively with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
