Your new company Your new organisation is a Semi-State Utilities Body that is responsible for some of Ireland's key infrastructure. They operate nationwide and are responsible for bringing water and wastewater services of the 31 local authorities together under one national service provider. Your new role This job is for a Water/Wastewater Network Operator who will be responsible for supporting the operation of water and wastewater networks in a specific geographical area. The role involves carrying out routine maintenance activities on the network asset base and resolving issues with customers. The position requires out-of-hours working and may involve working in both water and wastewater, depending on the location's requirements. The role is essential in delivering consistent customer service and meeting regulatory standards while managing operational expenditure. This includes identifying and investigating network issues, performing routine maintenance activities on network assets, and operating valves, service reservoirs, pipeline fittings, and other equipment. The operator will also be responsible for monitoring chemical dosing measures, responding to customer complaints, and accurately reporting all relevant information in relation to the operation of the water network. The role will require adherence to all health and safety procedures, as well as the operation of Irish Water vehicles and machinery. What you'll need to succeed
- Junior Certification or equivalent work experience
- Literacy skills
- Experience working within Water Services and/or other Utilities an advantage
- A full, clean, class B driving licence, C Licence is advantageous.
- Experience/understanding of working within a strong health & safety culture
- Previous labouring or construction experience is an advantage.
- Knowledge of the wastewater network, infrastructure and operations is an advantage.
- Sound knowledge and experience of all skills required for wastewater network infrastructure and operations preferred
- A basic awareness or understanding of wastewater networks and knowledge of wastewater network processes is an advantage.
- Experience of using IT systems
- Strong problem-solving skills & customer service skills
- With full training and risk assessment, the role holder must have the ability to work in an environment that is sometimes uncomfortable or potentially hazardous, such as: working with hazardous chemicals; sewage; confined spaces; lone working; remote working; deep water; animals; vermin; noise; hand and arm vibration, etc. This involves successful completion of occupational health assessment confirming suitability to work in such environments.
