1. Role Overview The Network L3 Assurance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the operational integrity, availability, and performance of network systems. The role focuses on advanced troubleshooting, proactive issue resolution, and supporting critical network infrastructure. 2. Key Responsibilities
- Incident Management: Provide L3 support for network incidents and ensure timely resolution to meet SLAs.
- Problem Management: Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions.
- Network Assurance: Proactively monitor and maintain network health, availability, and performance.
- Configuration & Change Management: Plan and execute network configuration changes following change management procedures.
- Escalation Support: Act as a point of escalation for L1 and L2 engineers.
- Documentation: Create and maintain knowledge base articles, runbooks, and network topology diagrams.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, such as security, operations, and engineering, for network improvements and upgrades.
- On-Call Support: Provide 24/7 support as part of an on-call rotation, if applicable.
- Routing & Switching:
- Cisco: Advanced knowledge of Cisco routers and switches (Nexus, Catalyst, etc.).
- Juniper: Hands-on experience with Juniper routers and switches.
- Wireless Networks:
- Knowledge of Cisco Wireless Controllers (WLC) and access points.
- Troubleshooting wireless connectivity, performance, and security issues.
- SD-WAN:
- Expertise in Cisco Viptela SD-WAN for design, deployment, and support.
- Network Security:
- Proficiency in Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine) for network access control and policy enforcement.
- Protocols & Standards:
- In-depth understanding of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, MPLS, and IPSEC VPNs.
- Tools & Monitoring:
- Experience with tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds, or other NMS (Network Monitoring Systems).
- Other Skills:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible) is a plus.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to identify patterns and resolve complex technical issues.
- Communication Skills: Clear, effective communication to support incident resolution with stakeholders and customers.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple high-priority issues simultaneously.
- Attention to Detail: Thorough documentation and change management skills.
- Experience: 5-10 years of hands-on experience in network support and troubleshooting at an L3 level.
- Certifications: CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) and JNCIP (Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional) are preferred. Experience with Cisco ISE and SD-WAN certification is a plus.
- Shift: May require rotational shifts or on-call support during off-hours.
- Location: If applicable, mention if it’s remote, hybrid, or on-site.
- Work Environment: Fast-paced, critical environment, especially if supporting production systems.
