Roles and Responsibilities

Responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical accessories and air conditioning equipped on mobile equipment and vehicles to ensure optimal cooling performance. Inspect and diagnose AC system issues in a variety of vehicles and equipment, including cars, trucks, heavy machinery, and industrial equipment. Perform repairs or replacements of AC components, such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and refrigerant lines. Replace AC filters, refrigerant, and lubricants as needed to maintain optimum performance. Perform housekeeping duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager or safety advisors in accordance with company policies & procedures. A Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing heavy machinery and equipment used in construction, mining, and other industries.

Key Skills and Competencies

  1. Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment systems, including hydraulics, electrical, mechanical, and diesel engines.
  2. Troubleshooting Skills: Strong ability to diagnose issues and malfunctions in machinery, using diagnostic tools and manuals to identify problems.
  3. Repair and Maintenance: Proficiency in performing repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  4. Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety regulations and practices relevant to working with heavy machinery, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  5. Welding and Fabrication: Skills in welding, cutting, and fabricating metal parts as needed for repairs or modifications.
  6. Equipment Operation: Familiarity with operating heavy equipment to test repairs and ensure proper functionality.
  7. Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness when inspecting equipment and completing repairs.
  8. Record Keeping: Ability to maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  9. Physical Stamina: Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting heavy components and working in various weather conditions.
  10. Problem-Solving: Critical thinking skills to address complex mechanical issues and develop effective solutions.
  11. Team Collaboration: Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborating with other technicians, operators, and management.
  12. Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated on new technologies, equipment, and industry best practices through training and certification.

Desired Candidate Profile

  1. Education: Technical High School Certificate and AC Technician qualification certificate. Diploma preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in the related position.
  3. Knowledge/Experience: Familiarity with various types of heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, cranes, loaders) and knowledge of the following cranes: Liebherr or Demag or Grove, Tadano.
  4. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diesel engine mechanics. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  5. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong communication skills for effectively collaborating with team members and reporting to supervisors.
  6. Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to heavy equipment operation and maintenance. Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  7. Physical Requirements: Physically fit and able to lift heavy components and work in varying weather conditions. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts, as needed.
  8. Personal Attributes: Strong work ethic and reliability, with a focus on quality and efficiency. Willingness to engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay updated on industry advancements.
