The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes. The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state. The QFD is an organisation that is focused on reframing the department’s relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through the Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap and building our cultural capability. Purpose of the role QFR Talent Acquisition is the central point of contact for QFR’s talent acquisition activities and to operationalise the attraction, selection and recruitment strategy through the effective delivery of modern and contemporary recruitment practices and services that support an inclusive, diverse and capable pool of talent to meet organisational objectives and fulfil operational requirements. Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be responsible for fostering employee engagement, retainment and morale, motivating and engaging employees to thrive and ultimately set employees up for success. You will ensure future talent growth and success through the identification of employees’ strengths, needs and wants; leveraging their talents to the fullest in line with QFD strategic goals, culture and purpose, leading to the empowerment of employees to increase productivity levels, the efficiency of business processes and improve retention rates. Key requirements Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge and/or experience or qualifications in human resource management or similar discipline.
  • Experience in data extraction, manipulation, analysis and presentation of candidate and diversity information for recruitment and selection campaigns.
  • Experience in large scale recruitment processes.
Special Requirements
  • Incumbents may be required to undertake intrastate, interstate travel as required.
  • Incumbents may be required to participate in recruitment activities outside of standard business hours, with applicable renumeration.
Your key accountabilities Responsibilities Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: Proactively develop and manage talent pools including fostering long-term relationships with past and current applicants and potential candidates with a view to building talent pipelines for all QFD roles. Assist in case management of applicants through sensitive recruitment and selection issues, including supporting applicants throughout their recruitment journey to support the departments Equity and Diversity Plan. Contribute to the analysis, design and implementation of innovative attraction, selection and recruitment processes and practices to support effective service delivery. Provide information, advice and guidance to the workforce to inform training, employment choices and help identify options for suitable careers and/or skills gaps. Contribute to the development and review of recruitment and selection policies and practices to ensure good governance, compliance and continuous business improvement. Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships and networks across the department and business partners to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation. Undertake research and analysis of emerging recruitment issues and trends likely to impact the strategic direction of the department and develop supporting policy and solutions. Assist in the preparation and review of reports, briefing notes, submissions, business cases, departmental and other correspondence, in accordance with departmental requirements and governance.
