Call Centre Operator - (part-time) Rate: $34.59 per hour plus Super Type: Ongoing contract Hours: Monday–Sunday rotating roster, 5 hours a day, 25 hours per week Location: Newcastle CBD To note: This is a part-time role, but the training will be FULLTIME. Successful candidates will be expected to work full-time for approximately 10–12 weeks while they undertake training. Training will be Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm. Then the role will return to part-time hours. Working from home is also available in the role post training. However, this is not a fully remote role. Successful candidates will be expected to attend the office. Your new company Hays has partnered with a state government organisation to fill multiple roles in Newcastle. Your new role The successful candidates will be placed on a rotating roster, Monday–Sunday, including public holidays. After completing training, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Answering inbound calls, addressing queries and providing accurate information to clients
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Using multiple government systems, entering data and navigating multiple screens
  • Meeting KPIs
What you'll need to succeed
  • Previous experience in a government or call centre role (highly desirable)
  • Previous experience in customer service, administration or similar (essential)
  • Excellent communication skills, able to 'smile through the phone'
  • Tech-savvy, the ability to pick up systems quickly and navigate across multiple government programs
  • Successful candidates may need to complete a police check
