This exciting new opportunity will support Council and its community

to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergency events at

Camden Council will develop, implement, maintain and lead Council's

Emergency Management arrangements. In addition, this role will provide

support to the organisation in emergency management functions at the

local, regional and statewide level. Collaboration across the

organisation will ensure great exposure to all things Council.

essential Local Emergency management Plans, disaster recovery plans,

and resilience plans (to name a few) means that no day will be the

Essential: Tertiary qualifications in Emergency Management, Emergency

Response, Disaster Management or a related field. Demonstrated

experience in the prevention, preparation, response and recovery to

emergency situations in a local government context. Demonstrated

knowledge and understanding of relevant emergency management

legislation, policies, guidelines and associated arrangements,

including SERM Act, 1989. Demonstrated experience working with

external and internal stakeholders in implementing and fulfilling

emergency management arrangements. Demonstrated ability for strong

analytical and decision-making skills in an emergency management

context. Demonstrated understanding of Business Continuity Management

and Business Continuity Planning arrangements. Highly developed oral

and written communication skills and the proven ability to research,

analyse and provide clear, high-level written and verbal advice and

briefings on complex issues.

Required to work weekends and outside of business hours at short

notice before, during and after Emergency events, including taking

emergency-related phone calls and flood warning system responses

Desirable: Relevant local government experience. Demonstrated

experience in use of GIS and emergency management applications.

To meet Council's WHS requirements and in accordance with Council's

Covid-19 Safety Plans, this position has been identified via risk

assessment to be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or

provide evidence of an approved medical contraindication. If a medical

contraindication certificate is provided, it will be assessed against

a risk assessment, and the decision of whether Council accepts the

medical contraindication certificate will be based on operational

needs.
