Job details
At ThroughLine, we’re driven by one purpose: to ease every emotional crisis. It’s ambitious and bold but we really believe it! We are a team of mental health innovators and software engineers on a mission to make accessing emotional support effortless, personal, and universal.
As social media and tech platforms face growing scrutiny over mental health concerns, we offer solutions that effectively support their users in need. We power support experiences on some of the world’s most influential platforms—like Google, YouTube, Discord, Roblox, and Twitch—connecting users to life-saving resources across 140 countries. From suicide and anxiety to domestic violence and eating disorders, we’ve already impacted millions. But we’re just getting started. We've learned what keeps people from seeking help and we’re well positioned to solve it. That’s where you come in.The role
As Clinical Lead, you will ensure our AI care navigator experience is clinically safe, effective, and compliant. You’ll design conversational flows, implement safety protocols, and develop clear metrics to measure impact—all aimed at reducing fear and empowering people to take action. Collaborating with product and engineering teams, you’ll refine and improve our AI through data-driven insights and user feedback. Beyond the product, you’ll represent ThroughLine’s clinical integrity to customers, providing expert advice to our partners as they adopt and trust our products. What you’ll work on
You’ll make meaningful contributions by:- Designing clinically safe and effective conversational AI experiences, while establishing clear metrics, safety protocols, and compliance standards.
- Analysing conversation data, clinical outcomes, and user feedback to continuously improve the experience.
- Providing clinical expertise to customers, helping them get the most out of our products.
- Building and managing a global Clinical Advisory Board to guide strategy and ensure we’re providing an exceptional level of care.
- Educating and influencing to build a culture of clinical integrity into every part of our business.
What You’ll Bring
You’re a clinical expert with a deep hunger to apply your skills to scalable, real-world product experiences. Specifically:- Clinical expertise: Licensed Clinical Psychologist with 5+ years of experience, well-versed in brief interventions and therapeutic frameworks (person-centred therapy, motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT, ACT etc).
- Research experience: Proven ability to develop mental health interventions and publish evidence of their impact.
- Data skills: Proficient in tools like SPSS, R, or Python, and capable of analysing clinical and user engagement data.
- Problem solving skills: You thrive when you encounter a problem, because you know it's an opportunity to hunt down a solution.
- Entrepreneurial drive: You’re frustrated by the constraints of slow, bureaucratic ways of working and have the confidence to take risks to develop new approaches that really work.
- Mission aligned: Kind, collaborative, adaptable, and energized by ThroughLine’s mission.
- Bonus: Experience working in a software company or product-focused environment.
What we offer
ThroughLine is well-funded by leading Australian & NZ investors. We are small and nimble, so you’ll get all the benefits of joining a growing team that’s having a global impact:- Meaningful work: The opportunity to build products that make a global impact on mental health.
- Compensation: Competitive salary.
- Equity options: Share in our success as we grow.
- Flexible, remote-first work: Work from the couch, cafe or cabana.
- Home office budget: Set up your ideal workspace.
- Supportive team: We bring our full selves each day and genuinely care about each other.
- Shape our future: Join early and help define our culture and direction.
You shouldn’t choose us if…
We’re not a fit for everyone – and that’s okay. Here’s some reasons why ThroughLine might not be a great place for you…- We’re driven, really driven: Our mission is personal to us—everyone here cares about it deeply. If you’re not passionate about doing things differently when it comes to mental health support, you might find it a bit much!
- We’re small: Because we’re early on our journey we don’t have all the perks of some large established companies, and no-one gets to say “that’s not my job”.
- We’re a startup: We’re still figuring things out which means sometimes you’ll get asked to make decisions without all the information or change your plans unexpectedly.
