ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER HEALTH PRACTITIONER AND HEALTH WORKER IDENTIFIED TALENT POOL Queensland Health is now recruiting experienced Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Health Practitioner - professionals for Queensland Health! Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to work with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The opportunity Queensland Health provides world-class public health care in Australia, and we are accepting expressions of interest from experienced Generalist Health Workers (Identified) for our statewide talent pool. Queensland Health has a total of 16 hospital and health services, in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote areas across the state. The roles available will be widespread across 16 Health Services which include:

  • Cairns and Hinterland
  • Children's Health
  • Central Queensland
  • Central West 
  • Darling Downs
  • Gold Coast
  • Metro North
  • Metro South
  • Mackay
  • North West 
  • South West
  • Sunshine Coast
  • Torres and Cape
  • Townsville
  • Wide Bay 
  • West Moreton
To be considered: We are encouraging applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners and Health Workers with experience across a broad range of specialities for job opportunities on either a full time or part time basis. To be considered for these opportunities, you must have a minimum of the following:  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers:
  • Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or
  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or
  • Diploma in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care
Mental Health AOD Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers:
  • Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or
  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or
  • Certificate IV Mental Health, or
  • Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work, or
  • Certificate IV in Alcohol and Drugs, or
  • Diploma in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or
  • Diploma in Mental Health
  • Diploma in Alcohol and Drugs
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners:
  • Current registration with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board, including
  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice
  • For HWF4 and above an additional Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care  is required, or
Additionally: 
  • Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association
  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to work with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
  • Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a 'working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position 5.1
