An exciting opportunity exists for an energetic, highly motivated and fully qualified finance professional to join our team as Senior Reporting Manager (“SRM”), reporting to the Group Financial Manager (“GFM”). The role is responsible for the Group consolidation and related reporting deliverables on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. The role will work closely with the Finance and FP&A teams to deliver quality management and statutory reports to both internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the role will be responsible for the Technical Accounting function, handling the Group's accounting policies and procedures, ensuring ongoing compliance with IFRS and world-class documentation of systems and controls across the organisation This role will play an integral part in scaling the accounting processes and procedures of a fast growth business. The SRM will have overall responsibility for delivering a successful Group audit and related financial statements, as well as working with the wider team to ensure our external reporting requirements across all subsidiaries are met. This role will also be tasked with leading an effective team, including a direct report. The SRM will play an instrumental role in helping the finance leadership drive a step-change in the quality and timeliness of all deliverables, with significant exposure to the Group FC, CFO and other senior management. Duties and Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):
- Overall responsibility to the GFM for delivering a successful Group and local statutory audits including the related Group financial statements and being the key point of contact with the external audit team.
- Project manage internal teams to ensure that data requested is received in accordance with timetables.
- Ownership of the Group consolidation and related internal and external reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Support the GFC in the development and implementation of best-in-class reporting practices for a fast-growing business
- Work closely with the FP&A and accounting teams to develop Group reporting projects and drive improvements in group reporting capabilities
- Technical expert who should lead the Group on accounting issues, new accounting developments and be a reference for questions from divisional finance teams
- Overall responsibility for ensuring our on-going compliance with IFRS including drafting accounting policy notes and guidance
- Work with internal business systems team and corporate accounting to design and implement an effective, integrated Group reporting tool
- Consulting with the finance team on the design and implementation of effective controls across the Group's processes to adhere to internationally accepted standards and regulations
- Submission of various other statutory or regulatory obligations for Group entities
- Involvement in various finance improvement projects, including system implementations, month end process efficiencies, new market expansion and business maturity workstreams
- CA(SA) or equivalent qualification
- Proven track record in the reporting and technical accounting fields, with experience from a strong training background with Big 4 (or another leading audit firm), with the ability to combine this with an entrepreneurial mind-set
- A minimum of 3+ years post CA qualification
- Experience of multi-national and multi-currency Group structures, preferably across the African continent, UK and/or other Holdco territories
- Experience reporting in highly regulated or listed company environment
- Strong technical accounting background with the proven ability to draft accounting policy guidance and ensure ongoing IFRS compliance
- Proven track record in building strong controls best practice across business processes
- Advanced time management and organisational skills
- Developed team management skills to ensure an engaged, high functioning team
- Advanced MS Office skills
- Open, transparent, and adaptable with previous mixed experience of blue-chip and high growth entrepreneurial organisations with the ability to implement best practice, drive change and thrive within less structured and fast-changing environments.
- Passionate, hardworking and with a real eye for detail, must enjoy working a hands-on environment with a small, tight-knit team.
