Systems Development Engineer, Japan Operations - Emerging Markets
Do you want to help reinvent how Amazon does Supply Chain in Japan and new marketplaces? Do you want to be involved in optimizing all segments of fulfillment, from inventory allocation across Fulfillment Centers to delivery to the customer's doorstep? Amazon's Business Process and Solutions team is hiring Systems Development Engineers! This role works directly with Software Development Engineers and focuses on improving the CX for existing products and expansion to new regions. This role will also be involved in DevOps improvements and refactoring codebases to improve system stability. Business spaces we have worked on include inventory distribution, return logistics, Fulfillment Center layout planning, truck planning, etc. We also work on bringing new solutions to India, Singapore, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, UAE, and more. We make work/life harmony a priority. As long as required meetings are attended during standard working hours and work is completed, employees are free to define their own hours. Your primary responsibilities are the development of feature improvements for existing services and launching these services in new marketplaces. You will also work on automated tests and refactoring codebases for system stability. These solutions range across technical stacks and domains, from web applications and backend services to cloud architecture and machine learning. You will work directly with technical and business teams, locally and worldwide, to understand business problems and improve solutions.A day in the life
An average day may look like:- Attend daily standup either in person or remotely to give status updates
- Spend uninterrupted time developing/improving software
- Meet with customers to understand pain points and propose improvements
- Learn about a new cloud technology

- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with automating and simplifying team development, test, and operations processes
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of systems development experience
- Knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Expertise in TypeScript, Python, Java, and/or C++
- Past experience using Amazon Web Services (CloudFormation, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB)
