We are seeking an ambitious and proactive Business Development Specialist to spearhead our business development efforts in new branch/province outside Head Office. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the local market in specific Province and a passion for identifying and nurturing SMEs that meet our lending criteria.

Job Description

As a Business Development Specialist, you will be responsible for scouting and identifying SMEs ready for funding based on specific lending criteria. The role will include, but is not limited to:
  • Market Scouting: Conduct thorough market research to identify potential SMEs in related Province that meet our lending criteria.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with SME owners, industry associations, local business networks, and other key stakeholders.
  • Client Assessment: Evaluate potential clients' business models, financial health, and growth potential to ensure they align with our funding requirements.
  • Pipeline Management: Develop and manage a pipeline of qualified SMEs, ensuring consistent follow-up and engagement.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Identify and develop strategic partnerships to enhance market presence and referral opportunities.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize data and market insights to inform business development strategies and decision-making.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on business development activities, progress, and challenges to senior management.
  • Targeted marketing: Identify advertising campaigns, events and other promotional activities
  • Community Engagement: Actively participate in local events, forums, and community initiatives to promote Spartan’s mission and identify new business opportunities.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Commerce or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, within the Business/Commercial banking sector.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of business development principles and strategies. Proficiency in CRM software and data analysis tools. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Attributes: Strategic thinker with the ability to innovate and adapt to changing market dynamics. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
