We are innovators, committed to redesigning and improving public services to fulfil our purpose to impact a better future by "Bringing National Visions to Life".Your OpportunityWe are currently bidding for a prestigious new project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and we are looking for a Sustainability & Environmental Engineer who will support the HSE Inspections Manager with advising and implementing best environmental practices to the client's portfolio of projects.The purpose of the project under this contract is to provide consulting and management support to a Ministry in KSA with the necessary tools to manage and maintain assets and facilities, through improving activities to meet service requirements, developing business strategies that ensure reducing costs of the life cycle of assets, and improving practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness. It includes but is not limited to long-term management of assets, facilities, resources, and services to improve performance, reduce costs, and manage the life cycle.Key Accountabilities:Ensure the maintenance of the integrated management systems elements relevant to the environment, in accordance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001.Conduct risk assessments and assessments of environmental aspects.Provide guidance on resource use, pollution prevention, waste reduction, and support Serco's HSE Inspection Manager in monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the Integrated Management System requirements.Monitor and report on contracts' environmental compliance arrangements.Carry out environmental inspection activities, monitor, and report on the progress/closure of corrective actions.Support Serco's HSE Inspection Manager in the monitoring and reporting of environmental performance indicators.Support and report on environmental emergency preparedness exercises.Support and report on the analysis of pollution survey programmes.Support the assessment and evaluation of Environmental aspects.Produce and audit statistics and reports on environmental performance for internal and external reporting.Manage and prepare for testing requirements - such as environmental pollution tests, and the application of permits, licenses, and clearances from government/regulatory authorities.Stop any work practice that has the potential to cause significant harm to the environment or that places people at risk of serious injury or harm and report such instances immediately to the respective manager.Document a sustainability plan (how to mitigate environmental impact).Produce sustainability and energy saving plans.Support the wider Serco team in the development of a Sustainability and assets & facilities management plan.Support the wider Serco team in increasing the number of sustainable buildings where this KPI tracks the cumulative percentage of certified buildings out of the total number of existing buildings.Monitor, supervise, and advise the operation and maintenance contractor on environmental management at the facilities.Provide the necessary information, training, and instructions to enhance the level of awareness of relevant environmental problems and ensure effective management of environmental impacts.This position may be required to carry out other tasks from time to time as directed by the HSE Inspections Manager and other team leaders.Specific Requirements:Minimum 7-10 years of relevant work experience.Experience in national/international major initiatives and developments.Experience in supporting environmental efforts and providing expert information, advice, and training, liaising with external agencies.Experience in environmental sustainability engineering.Practical Experience in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.Experience in quality services and studies.Qualified for recognised standards for Environment (ISO 14001) and ISO 50001 preferred.Degree in Engineering or Science.Preferred internationally recognised environmental qualification e.g. NEBOSH or IEMA.Demonstrated planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop solutions.Good communication and interpersonal skills for working collaboratively across all levels.Working knowledge of relevant Environment legislation & Standards and Compliance.Management of Statutory requirements.Knowledge of public sector structures and standards, regulations, workflows, procedures, and terminology (Preferred).Sound computer skills particularly in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).What's in it for you?At Serco, our core values drive everything we do, and we believe in fairly compensating our colleagues for the value they bring to our organization.
