It consists of nine sub-specialty sections, including: Breast and Endocrine, Colorectal Surgery, General and Minimally Invasive Surgery, Ophthalmology, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Renal and Pancreatic Transplant, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery. As of 2006, the department is staffed by 27 consultant, 9 Assistant, 19 Residents, and 12 Administrative /Support/Technical. In 2006, a total of 4,556 OR cases were performed. Prior to offering a permanent (1-2 years) contract, the hospital may invite doctors for a one-month locum. This provides an opportunity to visit the hospital, check out the department, and see Riyadh and Saudi Arabia.
