You will be designing for the Hilfiger lifestyle brand, presenting four collections annually in partnership with Production, Sourcing & Development, Buying & Planning, and Merchandising & Sales.The PositionThe Design Director of Tommy Hilfiger Womenswear Apparel plays a pivotal role in shaping the aesthetic and commercial success of our womenswear collection. This dynamic leadership position involves overseeing the design and development process to ensure our products meet global market needs while maintaining the brand's high standards of quality and style.In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Vice President of Womenswear Design and the Chief Design Officer to translate strategic vision into operational excellence. Your expertise in all product categories, coupled with a deep understanding of womenswear, will drive the creation of trendsetting, commercially viable collections. You will lead a talented team, fostering individual development and promoting a culture of creativity, innovation, and collaboration.The Design Director is responsible for setting and executing the seasonal fashion direction, aligning it with the overarching goals of Tommy Hilfiger. You will ensure synergy across collections, maintain high-quality standards, and manage market research and sales collaboration. Your ability to translate design strategy into actionable plans, measure performance through KPIs, and manage priorities will be crucial to the success of the womenswear division.You will report directly to the VP Global Creative Director of Tommy Hilfiger Womenswear, playing a key role in driving the brand's vision forward.ResponsibilitiesSet and Execute Seasonal Fashion Direction: Collaborate with the color and concept team on seasonal themes, including color, graphics, print, and pattern stories. Develop seasonal mood boards, fabric concepts, and style outs. Ensure the planning and strong execution of the seasonal fashion direction as set by the VP of Womenswear and the Chief Design Officer.Trend Analysis and Product Line Development: Support the VP with the creation of the seasonal direction by providing input on the latest and upcoming trends. Partner with the Senior Director of Merchandising to create a balanced product line that addresses both commercial opportunities and future business growth.Translate Design Strategy into Operations: Translate the design strategy from the VP into operational processes and deliverables. Fully own the operational process, defining and measuring KPIs to ensure alignment with strategic goals.Synergy Across Collections: Work closely with the EVP and Senior Design Director of Footwear and Accessories to ensure cohesive design across all Tommy Hilfiger collections.Range Planning and Revenue Management: Propose range plans, pricing, margins, and collection structure for board approval. Prepare collection briefs with the sales team for board approval. Set and discuss seasonal revenue targets with markets, and monitor expenses to ensure the budget and deliver operating income.Quality Control and Fabric Direction: Oversee fabric selection and direction for the womenswear collection, ensuring it meets global assortment needs and high-quality standards. Work closely with the Production and Sourcing Director to maintain these standards.Market Research and Sales Collaboration: Conduct market research, including store checks and attendance at fashion fairs, to stay informed of industry trends. Engage with European Sales Managers to translate market requests into the collection. Prepare sales presentations and sales books.Team and Process Management: Manage the design team and process, optimizing workflow, structuring daily activities, and ensuring adherence to deadlines. Lead and coach to unleash the potential of the team, fostering a role model environment aligned with PVH Leadership Behaviors.Organizational Design and Efficiency Projects: Design and propose organizational structures for the business's budgeting cycle. Lead projects aimed at improving efficiency and quality, analyzing processes, and working with cross-functional teams to create synergies.Health, Wellbeing, and Team Development: Master managing priorities and setting boundaries to ensure the health and wellbeing of oneself and the team. Manage the learning and development of the design team, overseeing and consulting on operational activities.The Ideal CandidateMinimum 10 years of design management experience in leading premium/sportswear brands, with extensive experience in (premium) womenswear apparel. Experience with American brand apparel is a plus.Deep understanding and experience in womenswear apparel, with a strong feminine design aesthetic.Proven track record of designing elevated and commercially successful womenswear collections.A minimum of 5 years of managerial experience and strong leadership skills with a track record of leading teams in line with the PVH Leadership Behaviors.Proven experience in managing priorities and setting boundaries to ensure health and wellbeing for oneself and the team.Ability to translate design strategy into operational processes and deliverables, with a focus on defining and measuring KPIs.Strong strategic thinking and commercial awareness, understanding the financial impact of design decisions.Fluency in English, with excellent presentation and communication skills.Keen eye for detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.Knowledge of fabric, construction, fit, print, and graphics design.Proficiency in Freehand, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.Be valued.In the heart of Amsterdam, PVH EMEA is home to the global headquarters of Tommy Hilfiger and the European offices of Calvin Klein.
