Job Specification: We are seeking a dedicated and qualified General Practitioner (GP) to join a busy, well-established practice in Limerick for 6 sessions per week. The successful candidate will provide high-quality medical care to a broad patient base, and must hold Membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP). Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Consultations : Provide thorough assessments and diagnosis of acute and chronic conditions across all age groups, including children, adults, and the elderly.
- Chronic Disease Management : Offer continuous management of patients with long-term conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, asthma, and other chronic illnesses.
- Preventive Care : Promote preventive healthcare services including health screening, vaccinations, and lifestyle advice for patients to maintain optimal health.
- Urgent Care : Provide care for patients presenting with acute medical conditions, injuries, or emergencies during regular practice hours.
- Referrals : Arrange specialist referrals and coordinate follow-up care with hospitals and other healthcare providers as needed.
- Prescription Management : Appropriately prescribe medications, ensuring patient safety, and adherence to national guidelines.
- Health Promotion : Engage in patient education and health promotion initiatives, supporting community health programs where appropriate.
- Electronic Health Records : Accurately document consultations, treatment plans, and follow-up care using practice's electronic health record systems (e.g., Socrates or HealthOne).
- Team Collaboration : Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including practice nurses, administrative staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Continuous Professional Development (CPD) : Stay up-to-date with medical advancements, attend relevant courses, and participate in CPD activities.
- Medical Degree : A recognised qualification in Medicine (MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent).
- MICGP : Must hold full Membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP).
- Irish Medical Council Registration : Fully registered with the Irish Medical Council.
- Experience : Minimum of 2 years of experience in general practice.
- Communication Skills : Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and staff.
- Problem-Solving : Strong clinical judgement and decision-making abilities in diagnosing and managing a wide range of health conditions.
- Team Player : Ability to work efficiently within a team environment, as well as autonomously when required.
- Organisational Skills : Good time management and organisational abilities to manage patient caseload effectively.
- 6 sessions per week (part-time), with flexibility in scheduling.
- No out-of-hours commitment required, but availability for occasional on-call duties would be beneficial.
