Job Summary
Sales Performance Management: Establish and drive the implementation of a strategy to enhance and optimise leads for Public sector. Sales and Distribution Planning: Develop the Sales execution strategy and business plan for Public Sector. Sales Opportunity Management: Establish value-based strategy for all leads and sales opportunities within CPHV and a direct focus on Public sector. Stakeholder Management: Actively promote and manage the collaborative engagement of internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, suppliers, clients, service providers, business partners and other Absa entities.Job Description
Key accountabilities
Business Strategy
- Diversify the book -Translate a similar industry approach to that of the Agri business model with a specific focus on building out the PS model and growing the book. A deep specialist in the Public sector industry able to cultivate strong relationships with the highest levels of leadership.
- Targeted Revenue Generation - Proactively identify mission critical opportunities and risks, determine the impact thereof on the long-term intent of the business and develop strategic plans to direct the future.
- Accountable for developing and implementing operating plans that contribute to the achievement of organisational results, long term sustainability and viability with a view of building efficiencies and smoother processes through enabling digitization.
- Proactively identify business opportunities and risks, model alternative solutions, develop scenarios and establish contingency plans in alignment with the strategy.
- Plan to provide expert advice to inform effective implementation of interlocks across the value-chains in alignment with strategic objectives and priorities and specify the required measurements to monitor performance effectiveness.
Customer Strategy
- Ensure the strategic positioning of the business by promoting and positioning customer experience and service excellence leadership with internal and external stakeholders.
- Overall accountability for the client experience and work with key partners across Banking, Sales, Onboarding, Service and Operations.
- Champion Client engagement and focus on growing the client relationship through partnering closely with Banking and regional Public sector Sales teams.
- Drive customer segmentation, product positioning, pricing, and marketing plans for each client segment.
- Influence the development of and drive the implementation of a customer excellence culture that builds positive relationships and encourages feedback.
- Lead the Public Sector clients’ sales origination, pipeline development, customer revenue growth and retention.
- Lead a team with a defined portfolio of Public Sector clients, with product and sector expertise, responsible for new cross-sell and retention, in collaboration with the leadership teams responsible for product/solution sales.
- Act as a Trusted Advisor to Public Sector clients for complex cash management, treasury and working capital.
- Leverage Market intelligence to shape the Public Sector strategy and future plans within the industry.
Risk Management
- Accountable for the management of business risk in line with the risk, governance and compliance frameworks and parameters.
- Maintain a strong risk and control culture & practice across the CPHV team. Maintain a pristine control environment and lead key activities such as regulatory interaction, Continuity of Business etc.
- Work closely with second- and third-line partners (Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance) to ensure strong engagement with CPHV, and partner with them to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure.
- Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics.
- Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation.
- Be familiar with and adhere to Absa's Code of Conduct; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same.

- Support the implementation of people strategies to ensure optimum utilisation of human capability through effective people development.

Role/person specification
Preferred Education
- Post Graduate Degree
- NQF 8 - 10
Preferred Experience
- Minimum 8 - 12 years relevant experience in leading public sector business
- Minimum of 5 years at a Senior leadership level
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience in Business development and Commercial banking environment with a specific focus on Public sector
- Experience at a managerial level which includes a role in frontline.
