Job details

An L2 Network Engineer is responsible for providing second-level support for network issues, troubleshooting complex network problems, and maintaining network infrastructure. The role involves working on network configurations, resolving escalated issues, and ensuring the stability, performance, and security of enterprise networks.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Handle escalated network issues that cannot be resolved by L1 engineers.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems involving LAN, WAN, and WLAN technologies.

Diagnose issues with routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.

Perform advanced network configurations, including routing and switching protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.

Configure and maintain, VPNs, and load balancers to ensure security and optimal performance.

Use network management tools to monitor the performance of the network infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime and identifying potential issues before they impact operations.

Conduct regular checks and maintenance of network devices to ensure reliability.

Lead the investigation and resolution of major network incidents and problems, ensuring proper root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Document incident reports and maintain accurate records of all network-related incidents and actions taken.

Optimize network performance by analyzing traffic patterns, bandwidth usage, and device configurations.

Recommend and implement improvements to enhance network efficiency and reduce latency.

Collaborate with other IT teams, including security, server, and cloud teams, to maintain a cohesive IT infrastructure.

Work closely with vendors to resolve hardware or software issues and assist with network upgrades and installations.

Ensure the network is compliant with security policies, performing regular audits, and updating firewall rules and configurations.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to L1 engineers and assist them in solving network-related issues.

Train junior staff on best practices and troubleshooting techniques.

Minimum Qualifications:REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS).

Experience: 8-10 years of experience in network engineering or administration, with exposure to complex troubleshooting and network management.

Technical Skills:

Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).

Security: Experience with VPNs, and network access control (NAC).

Hands-on experience with routers, switches, from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, and other vendor devices.

Familiarity with tools like SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG for monitoring network performance.

Knowledge of WLAN technologies and wireless network management.

Familiarity with SD-WAN technologies.

Experience working in cross-functional IT teams and with third-party vendors.

Ability to communicate technical issues clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.#J-18808-Ljbffr
