The primary purpose of this position Logistic Management Specialist, NH-0346-3 is to utilize logistics expertise to develop, implement, direct, and/or function as part of a logistics management operation for the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) in support of acquisition phases of assigned systems, programs, or major equipment. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year, or will have one year within 120 days of closing of this announcement, of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this position that has given them the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform. Typically, we would find this experience in work within this field that is closely related. To be creditable, one year of the specialized experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11), level, pay band (NH-02), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). Specialized experience is described as: planning, managing, and coordinating the total cradle-to-grave logistics management to support a major weapon system; performing contract monitoring; providing authoritative technical and logistics support information; and developing functional guidance for new systems and for major system modifications. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning the acquisition and logistics management processes and initiatives.
  2. Knowledge of the application of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative assessment methods.
  3. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DoD, Air Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the logistics management program processes.
  4. Skill in staff level planning, organizing, and overseeing critical aspects of development, production, and support of systems, subsystems, or equipment.
  5. Ability to integrate, analyze, and manage a variety of logistics functions in support of research, development, production, and support of a system, subsystem, or equipment.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work is sedentary. May require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items like papers or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in a typical office setting, requiring the use of normal safety precautions necessary for an office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE : Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
