George Fisher Mine – Fixed Plant Maintenance Surface and Underground Residential Role only – UM2T Mount Isa , Queensland, Australia Reference No: 101475 We have an opportunity that exists for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join the Fixed Plant Surface Maintenance team at George Fisher Mine. Reporting to the Fixed Plant Mechanical supervisor, you will have the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, working in both surface and underground settings, working in a dynamic and challenging environment. This position is a residential role in Mount Isa and require you to work 7 days on, 7 days off, 7 night on 7 days off roster, allowing for an excellent work-life balance. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Repair and maintenance of fixed plant assets
  • Undertaking preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on equipment such as pumps, conveyor systems and hydraulic systems, crushers, batch and paste plants
  • High and safe quality of work conducted and maintained
  • Identify potential improvements to work practices and conditions
  • Provide feedback to the Leading Hand on a regular basis
  • Regular updates in the shift log on Teams
The successful applicants will have:
  • Trade qualified with a minimum of at least 4 years experience in a fixed plant maintenance environment
  • Experience in a similar role will be preferential
  • Experience within mining/heavy industry environment will be highly regarded with a high regard for safety innovation and adhering to safety procedures.
  • Ability to think logically and solve problems when required
  • Flexible in terms of rosters and possible changes to roster when required as per business needs
  • Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills and able to work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills with peers, customers and management.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new processes.
  • Hold a current Australian Manual Drivers Licence.
