Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our busy workshop. The Workshop Manager will be responsible for managing the team of technicians and mechanics, ensuring the timely completion of all repair and maintenance work, and maintaining a high level of customer service.ResponsibilitiesFollow Safety Procedures and wear Protective Clothing, if and when necessary.Manage Mechanics, Assistants, and job cards.Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures on vehicles and equipment.Record observations and findings during diagnostic run and decide on correct method of repair, as necessary.Ensure warranties are followed-up, monitored and documented.Plan and organize preventive maintenance systems and delegate tasks to mechanics.Provide hands-on supervision of all workshop activities, especially technical issues.Forecast and order spares/parts for specific jobs/special jobs, or for stock replenishment.Timeously attend to plant breakdowns.Supervise and follow-up on actual progress of each individual repair job.Strategize proactive maintenance of repairs of Group Fleet.Provide on-the-job training, as well as coaching and mentoring to mechanics and helpers.Follow-up repair order, registering the time taken to complete each task.Ensure Customer service, reliability, and dependability by providing technical assistance.Evaluate training requirements and discuss training needs with Management.Implement OH&S standards within the workshop area.Test and approve Operators for trucks, excavators, loaders, cranes, graders, backhoes etc.Conduct final check/test driving for all vehicles/trucks, prior to release.Conduct annual performance appraisals of all direct subordinates.Sign and approve timesheets.Comply with all Company and Departmental Policies and Procedures.Any other reasonable and lawful instructions given by Management.
